    Gearset. Team. Self.These last 11 months have been unlike any other moment in my professional career — so much so that this is the first post of mine since my last role! With that in mind, I could not be prouder to say that I have been working as a Customer Support Engineer at Gearset based out of our Chicago office. Beyond this being my first foray into the Salesforce world, this has been an unforgettable experience (and yes, we’re hiring 😊)When I first joined Gearset, ‘Gearset Team Self’ was one of the mantras that really stuck with me to describe my experience with the company. Whether I’m working with one of my colleagues in the Chicago office or the Cambridge HQ, there’s a feeling of camaraderie that makes me feel at home, especially for when we’re able to achieve breakthroughs for customers that just wouldn’t be possible with any other team. Being able to achieve this while also being accepted for who I am makes me excited to wake up every morning and get to work 💪In this role, learning the intracacies of Salesforce while adapting to startup culture has been very exciting while also relating back to my roots.     𝑫𝒆𝒂𝒓 𝑳𝒊𝒏𝒌𝒆𝒅𝑰𝒏 𝑪𝒐𝒎𝒎𝒖𝒏𝒊𝒕𝒚,I wanted to take a moment to share a glimpse into my journey over the past few years, especially for those who might be navigating similar paths in your career.After a fulfilling two-year tenure at ServiceNow, I made the difficult decision to step away due to personal family reasons, and despite this being a challenging time, family always comes first...As circ*mstances shifted and I decided to re-enter the job market, little did I know the hurdles that awaited. 😓 𝑳𝒊𝒌𝒆 𝒎𝒂𝒏𝒚 𝒐𝒇 𝒚𝒐𝒖, 𝑰 𝒄𝒐𝒏𝒕𝒊𝒏𝒖𝒆 𝒕𝒐 𝒇𝒂𝒄𝒆 𝒖𝒏𝒆𝒙𝒑𝒆𝒄𝒕𝒆𝒅 𝒄𝒉𝒂𝒍𝒍𝒆𝒏𝒈𝒆𝒔 𝒂𝒍𝒐𝒏𝒈 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒘𝒂𝒚...The job search is proving to be more laborious than anticipated, and I find myself in a prolonged period of being underemployed for over 1.5 years. It is a testing phase, one that demands 𝒑𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒆𝒏𝒄𝒆, 𝒑𝒆𝒓𝒔𝒆𝒗𝒆𝒓𝒂𝒏𝒄𝒆, and unwavering 𝒅𝒆𝒕𝒆𝒓𝒎𝒊𝒏𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏...Yet, through every setback and disappointment, I remain steadfast in my belief that the right opportunity is coming in due time. While the road is long and at times disheartening, I refuse to let go of my passion for technology and belief in my abilities.As I'll continue to mention, I am open to new opportunities, particularly remote or hybrid roles (Contracted or FTE), where I can bring my skills and dedication to the table once again.     Guess who’s back on LinkedIn and ready for a new adventure? 🤩A few months ago, I was impacted by the layoffs at Slack/Salesforce. I decided to think positively and carefully consider my next steps. First: family and friends. 💝Living far from my roots 🇫🇷 is not always easy. It was important for me to spend time reconnecting with loved ones. Then it was time to achieve a lifelong goal: a solo trip to the unknown. 🌏I previously put this dream aside to focus on my career. A part of me was also scared to get out of my comfort zone. It was a real challenge, but I did it.     Yes, I'm HIRING again! And here's some of the advice I have for candidates who are looking to join the ServiceNow rocket ship... Referrals: they go a long way but the are not the be all and end all. Having a champion who knows what you're capable of and is willing to sell you is only a good thing but if you don't know anyone in my network don't get put off applying. Research: credibility is easy to build once you know how and is a vital component to trust. Take time to learn about the company, about the role and about what it'll take to be successful.Network: You never know what it's like on the inside without asking someone, don't just listen to recruiters and hiring managers like me. Get insight from our teams and colleagues. Go the Extra Mile: following up on interviews, introducing yourself ahead of time, and sending pre-reads are all easy add on's that are part and parcel of being a quality AE. Lastly, we're a tech company so yes we do wear hoodies and chinos a lot (picture for reference!) but dressing up for the right occasion shows everyone it's importance...get the optics right.     𝐈 𝐀𝐩𝐩𝐥𝐢𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝟏𝟔𝟎𝟎 𝐉𝐨𝐛 𝐀𝐩𝐩𝐥𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 🤯👨💻Last day I was having a call on Topmate , wherein my Mentee asked , I'm applying to Jobs , have good Resume, but still not getting calls 😔My immediate next questions was - "How many Job Applications have you done till now ?"I was stumbled when she answered - "I applied to 20 Jobs".I was like - "Aayeeinn ??" 🫥🤐Like seriously , how can you expect to get calls by applying to just 20 Jobs.That's when I shared my Experience on Job applications with her - 👉 When I transitioned from Optum to ServiceNow, I applied to a whopping 1600+ job applications in 3-4 months.👉 Out of those, I received calls from around 35 -40 companies, leading to around 100+ interviews and multiple offers from ServiceNow, PayPal, Paytm, and more.👉 I explored various methods – Job Portals, Referrals, Career sites, Cold emailing – and discovered that it's a numbers game. The more you apply, the higher your chances of getting calls and securing offers.In today's competitive job market, Persistence and Smart Application Strategies are key.
