How to open a safe if you forgot the combination? ›

In many cases, the manufacturer will have a record of the combination associated with your specific safe. To retrieve the combination, you'll need to provide the manufacturer with the serial number of your safe. Once they've verified your ownership of the safe, they should be able to provide you with the combination.

In this case, it is also recommended that you contact a professional locksmith to repair the lock. If you have a code safe and the electronic lock does not work, the first thing to do is to check if the battery is working or dead. If it is, replace it with a new battery and try opening your safe again.

Most of my weapons fit nicely and the controls for the lock and backup system are top notch. If you need a safe for a temporary living space I'd recommend this one very highly. One for the home I would probably get something much larger and permanent.

If the battery is running low, your lock could still have enough power to light up its display keypad and make its normal beeps. You might even hear the lock click as if the lock is disengaging, only to find it still locked. Solution: This is an easy fix of just changing the battery.

A: Unfortunately no. You cannot reset this lock without knowing the current combination. You'll likely need to purchase a new lock.

Press the reset button on the inner keypad of the safe.

It should be a small, black button with the word “Reset” next to it. Push the button with the end of the hanger. You may hear a beeping sound or the control panel may light up when you press the reset button.

A change key can be used to change the combination of your safe. Not every safe accepts a change key, however. If you can't open your safe with an override key or change key, there's one sure-fire way to get it open: calling a locksmith.

If your batteries are dead, you will need to hold a 9v battery (Like the ones you get in smoke detectors) to the connection points at the front of the safe, this should deliver the power you require to enter your code on the keypad.

Battery failure is the most common reason the electronic lock on your gun safe isn't working properly. Typically this is because the battery is dead. But, your electronic lock might also not be working properly if the battery doesn't have enough amperage.

Jammed Bolt Work

Turn your back to the safe, and kick the door, hard, a few times. Be sure that you do not kick the keypad or the handle. This will help loosen the bolt work. Next, pull the handle in the opposite direction than you normally do and enter the code.

Accessing the Reset Button: Many electronic safes have a reset button inside the door or on the back panel. Accessing this button usually requires a master key or removal of a panel. Using Master Codes: Master codes are unique to each safe and can override the user-set code.

If your lock has a number stamped on it, write it down. Some locks will not have a serial number. Bring the lock to a distributor or retailer of the brand. Ask the distributor to contact the manufacturer on your behalf to validate your ownership of the lock and provide you with the combination.

Contact a Locksmith

Professional locksmiths receive extensive training in safe breaching and can crack the lock without damaging it. The locksmith will use professional tools to open the safe's lock. However, the locksmith might have to drill the safe to disable the safe's security system as the last option.
