Kathy Griffin says she is navigating her divorce 'one day at a time' (2024)

Comedian Kathy Griffin revealed how she is coping with the end of her nearly four-year marriage toRandy Bick.

When asked about how she is handling herdivorce, the 63-year-old said she was taking it 'one day at a time' and 'one show at a time.'

'I thank God for this tour. I thank God it happened. I'm just so grateful to be on tour, so it takes my mind off it,' the two-time Emmy winner, whose latest tour, My Life on the PTSD-List, spans over 40 cities, including New York City, Atlanta and Chicago.

'The great Joan Rivers used to say, "The more your life is in the s**t, the [more] fun you are,' Griffin adds. 'So I must be hilarious.'

Griffin filed for divorce from Bick in December, just shy of their fourth anniversary.

The comedian cited irreconcilable differences and asked the court to enforce their prenuptial agreement, so neither can be awarded spousal support.

'Well…sh*t. This sucks,' wrote Griffin on Twitter at the time.

Sources previously told DailyMail.com that Bick became a 'homebody' and lost his lust for life.

After 'growing apart,' Griffin reportedly felt divorce would be the only way she could ever feel like herself again.

'Kathy was in love and is still in love with her ex and as heartbroken she is with how this all has turned out, Kathy loves living life,' an insider said.

They added, 'She always wants to have fun. She wants to travel and do things with a man she loves who has the same aspirations.'

'Kathy is just over 60 but still feels in her thirties and wants to enjoy life and has a fun and focused outlook on life and Randy did share that with her.'

Griffin married the marketing executive on New Year's Day 2020 after meeting at a food and wine festival in 2011.

Griffin and Bick they briefly brought the curtain down on their romance in 2018.

'God help me, but I'm gonna be one of those people who announces a break up,' she tweeted then. 'It's not acrimonious and I will always adore him.'

During their first seven-year stretch as a couple, Griffin saw her her career implode in early 2017 over a viral image of her holding a severed-head dummy of Donald Trump, who was then the newly inaugurated President Of The United States.

According to Griffin, the scandal also turbulence into Bick's personal life because his family were supporters of the president.

'My boyfriend, whom I live with and he's my tour manager as well, you know, his family struggles with him now...they're Trumpers,' said Griffin.

She told Entertainment Tonight years later that she and Bick 'took a little break' for four months around the time of the controversy.

'And now, we just came to the decision that, we've really been through so much together. We've now been together over eight years,' she reflected in 2019.

'Even though he's 19 years younger, we both turned to each other and realized, this is the longest relationship for both of us, you know? We should fight for it and make it work. And you know, it was just one of those things where, it was a lot of pressure.'

After their brief split in 2018, they got back together in 2019 and were married by comedy icon Lily Tomlin on New Year's Day 2020.

'Randy and I are doing sort of toy rings for the ceremony because neither one of us like wearing rings ever. So we will never wear rings,' she told People. 'Deal with it.'

She also forwent a traditional bridal gown and opted instead for the same dress she wore when she and Bick went on their first date.

Two months later, Bick saw Griffin through another period of personal turmoil when her beloved mother Maggie died at the age of 99.

Over the years, Griffin and Bick's relationship occasionally attracted mockery over the fact that he is nearly two decades her junior.

In 2016, she herself remarked to People magazine: 'Well you know I didn’t think it would last [because] he’s 18 years younger than I am!'

Although she initially pegged the marketing executive as a 'man-whor*,' assuming their one-night stand would not progress any further.

However she eventually discovered he was 'a real guy' rather than 'a Hollywood guy,' and a genuine connection developed between them.

The end of her marriage to Bick is Griffin's second divorce - she was previously married to one Matthew Moline from 2001 until 2005.

After her first marriage failed, she went on Larry King Live and sensationally accused Moline of having stolen $72,000 from her by swiping her ATM cards while she slept.

Even though Griffin and Moline attempted to reconcile after their initial split, Griffin maintained that they were unable 'to get around the trust issue.'

Moline issued a statement of his own, read by King on the air, that said: 'Since our divorce, I have not made any public comments about my ex-wife or our marriage. It saddens me that she would choose to make such accusations at this time. I have no intention of engaging in a public debate over private matters.'
