#QuestionsBrewing Read The Guardian Journalist Richard Luscombe's article: "Ironically named Great Outdoors Initiative that would pave over acres of state parks sent steadfast allies over the edge" https://lnkd.in/e6D4jnaM #ResonatingParagraph: ‣ The outcry when DeSantis’s department of environmental protection (DEP) unveiled its absurdly named Great Outdoors Initiative last week was immediate, overwhelming and unprecedented. The Republican Florida senators Marco Rubio and Rick Scott penned a joint letter slamming an “absolutely ridiculous” proposal to build a golf course at Jonathan Dickinson state park in Martin county. The Republican congressman Brian Mast, usually a reliable DeSantis ally, said it would happen “over my dead body”.Scores of Republican state congress members and senators, whose achievements during the more than five years since DeSantis was elected governor have been largely limited to rubber-stamping his hard-right agenda, lined up to denounce the projects. Many noted the plans had been drawn up in secret, with no-bid contracts destined for mysteriously pre-chosen developers outside the requirements of Florida law.

Dear Luxembourg for Finance + LuXembourg - Let's Make It Happen: Let's be Archimedes fulcruming for Decency...here and globally. As Mark Jacobson (The Solutions Project) details & educates = #WeHaveTheSolutions. The opportunities for innovation, growth, and a renewed commitment to our planet are profound. The path forward is clear, and the time to act is now. Through the remarkable work of leaders like Professor Mark Jacobson and initiatives like The Solutions Project, we have a blueprint for a sustainable future—one powered entirely by wind, water, and solar energy. The Solutions Project outlines a bold and achievable plan to transition to 100% renewable energy by 2050. This plan is not just about replacing fossil fuels; it’s about rethinking how we power our world, from the electricity that lights our homes to the energy that drives our industries and heats our buildings. The projected energy mix for this future is diverse and robust...combining Residential Rooftop Solar + Solar Plants + Concentrating Solar Plants + Onshore Wind + Offshore Wind + Commercial & Government Rooftop Solar + Wave Devices + Geothermal + Hydroelectric and Tidal Turbines. We can achieve this tangible, sustainable energy landscape through smart investments, innovative technologies, and forward-thinking policies. Every nation, regardless of its current energy infrastructure, can tailor this model to its specific needs, making the transition to 100% clean energy a truly global effort.Jobs and Economic Growth: Transitioning to a 100% clean energy future is not just an environmental imperative—it’s an economic one that will continue to create millions of jobs, revitalizing communities and driving economic growth. Over the next 40 years, we can expect to see, globally: 24,389,000 Construction Jobs + 30,151,000 Operation Jobs. These are good jobs that pay well, support families, and build stronger communities. As we transition away from fossil fuels, we must ensure that workers in traditional energy sectors have access to training and opportunities in these new industries. This is not just about creating jobs—it’s about creating a just and equitable transition that leaves no one behind.A Healthier, More Just World: The benefits of clean energy extend far beyond the economy. By improving energy efficiency and powering our grid with wind, water, and solar, we can reduce overall energy demand by 57%. This is not just about saving money—it’s about saving lives. Each year, we could save over 5 million lives currently lost to air pollution. Moreover, the health cost savings are staggering. By avoiding the harmful effects of fossil fuels, we could globally save $30,002 billion annually in health costs. That’s money that could be reinvested in our communities, in education, in infrastructure, and in the health and well-being of...Part 1...

#Bookmark Bloomberg News article https://lnkd.in/eqq6RCzT on China's massive climate-saving Solar Module Production versus Demand #MainPoints:‣ “I don’t know if prices can fall beyond this point, it’s just too much for even the biggest players,” said Cosimo Ries, an analyst at Trivium China in Shanghai. “It’s still going to be a pretty painful year, and maybe longer before that capacity gets cleared.”‣ The Chinese solar industry’s predicament can be traced back three years ago, when a surge in demand for panels boosted prices and unlocked ambitious expansion plans that resulted in far too much supply.‣ The sector ended 2023 with the ability to produce 1,154 gigawatts of solar modules — more than double the capacity from two years earlier. Projected demand this year is just 593 gigawatts, according to BloombergNEF.
